Greensboro Generals News Release

UPCOMING WEEK: The Generals have three games in three nights this week. The Generals will face the Columbus Cottonmouths for the only time all season for a Thanksgiving Day contest at 7:00. After eating your turkey drumsticks at home, the Generals will be offering up free "Thunder Stix" for children attending the game while supplies last. Thursday's game is also "Thirsty Thursday," sponsored by R. H. Barringer, with all Anheuser-Busch drafts selling for just one dollar. In a game filled with intrigue, the Generals host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday night at 7:30. For the first time, Generals' head coach Rick Adduono faces the team he coached for the last six seasons in that matchup, directing the Stingrays to two Kelly Cup championships in the process. The Generals week ends with a journey to Johnstown to visit the Chiefs on Saturday night at 7:30. All games this season can be heard on the Generals new flagship radio station, WPET AM-950. You can also hear the games online by logging on to www.greensborogenerals.com.

LAST WEEK:

11/21 ATLANTIC CITY 4, GREENSBORO 2 ¨ The Generals appeared to have this game well in hand, but it slipped away in a heartbeat in the third period. The Generals got goals from Shane Campbell and Pete Gardiner in the first period for a 2-0 advantage, and they held the lead well into the third period. However, the Boardwalk Bullies reeled off three unanswered goals in a stretch of 3:05 to erase the deficit and take the lead for good. They added an empty net goal for the final difference.

11/23 FLORIDA 3, GREENSBORO 5 ¨ The Generals responded from Thursday's disappointment with a strong performance against the Everblades and the league's top goaltender Rob Zepp. Greensboro took a 1-0 lead on a Matt Turek goal in the first period, only to have Florida retaliate quickly to tie the score going into the break. The Everblades took the lead late in the second period, but with just 1:01 to go before the end of the frame, the Generals' Matt Chandler notched his first goal as a pro to even the score. The Generals took the lead for good with exactly eleven minutes remaining on a shorthanded goal by Mark Turner. In a bizarre final 90 seconds, the Generals were forced to tack on two empty net goals by Sam Ftorek and Pete Gardiner in between a goal by the Everblades with 30 seconds left.
