Grizzlies Close Regular Season with 5-2 Win in Colorado

Loveland, Colorado - The Utah Grizzlies (37-27-5-3) defeated the Colorado Eagles (41-23-4-4) 5-2 Saturday at the Budweiser Events Center to wrap up the regular season.

Utah opens up the playoffs against Idaho Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The Grizzlies host Idaho Friday and Saturday at Maverik Center in games two and three of the series.

Goaltender Eric Levine improved to 4-2 on the season by stopping 40 of the 42 shots in the contest. Ryan Hayes had two goals and two assists in the game factoring in on four of Utah's five goals.

After 4 early Levine saves, the Grizzlies jumped to a 3-0 lead with three goals in 5 minutes and 39 seconds from 9:53 to 15:32 on two goals by Ryan Hayes (30, 31) and a breakaway score by Alex Krushelnyski (17).

Utah made it 4-0 in the second period as Alex Krushelnyski fed Brenden Walker for his 24th of the season on the power-play. Ryan Hayes picked up another assist on the play.

Colorado scored two power-play goals in the final 3:58 of the second period to make it 4-2, but that would be all they would get.

With five seconds left in the game, Hayes passed up an empty-net goal and fed linemate T.J. Syner for his 15th goal of the season.
