Gladiators Weekly Update

March 15, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Unbeaten: The Gladiators have picked up points in eight of their last nine games to keep pace in the ECHL Central Division playoff race. Gwinnett is unbeaten in its last five games with a 3-0-2 record and have posted a 5-1-3 record in their last nine games.

More than one: One point in a game isn't enough for forward Steve Slonina lately. The rookie out of Umass-Lowell has posted at least two points in four of the Gladiators past six games. In that span, Slonina has tallied 10 points off of 6 goals and 4 assists for the Gladiators.

Not even his best: It would be a season high for most players, but Kevin Doell's current six game point-scoring streak is still seven games shy of his season high. The rookie forward out of the University of Denver has recorded at least one point in each of the Gladiators past six games, which included a four game goal-scoring streak, the longest this season by a Gladiator. During his current point streak, Doell has recorded five goals and three assists for eight points.

Back in Action: Since sustaining a shoulder injury on January 10th, forward Wes Fox played in his first game on Tuesday against the Louisiana IceGators. The rookie forward make an immediate impact as he tallied an assists in the shootout loss as he eased back into the line up.

Go to Guy: Goaltender Trevor Prior has been shouldering the goaltending duties for the Gladiators since his arrival at the end of January. Prior has started 18 of the past 20 games for the Gwinnett and has posted a 2.68 goals against average and a .912 save percentage for the Gladiators.

First Win! Former Gladiators goaltender Adam Munro recorded his first win in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday night turning aside 27 shots in a 4-3 win over the Washington Capitals. Munro began the season with Gwinnett where he appeared in six games before being called up to the Norfolk Admirals on November 19th and signed by Chicago on February 18th. Munro is 1-2-1 with a .903 save percentage in four NHL games with the Blackhawks.
