March 15, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Wheeling Nailers News Release
Wheeling WV - The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled goaltender Martin Brochu from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL; this was announced Saturday by Penguins general manager Craig Patrick.
Brochu started this season playing with the Nailers, playing in nine games having a record of 6-2-1-1, with a 2.65 goals against average and a .900 save percentage. Brochu has become the second goalie this season that has played for Wheeling and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the same season. Andy Chiodo was the other goalie who has done that, he played two games with Wheeling earlier in the season, then was called up to Wilkes-Barre and then went on to play for Pittsburgh. Brochu followed the same path as Chiodo; he played in 13 games for the Baby Pens posting a 3-8-1 record while recording a 2.75 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. The Nailers are the number one organization in the ECHL in sending former players to the NHL with 24.
The Nailers next game is on the road against Dayton at 7:00 PM, then they have the much needed weekend off after playing eight games in ten nights which ended this past Sunday with a win against Peoria 5-3.
