The Johnstown Chiefs (38-19-6; 82 PTS; 4th Northern div.) inched a little closer to third place as they went 3-0-0 last week with wins over Reading, Wheeling and Trenton. The Chiefs trail third place Peoria by four points and second place Atlantic City by five points. Johnstown has a game in hand over Peoria. Fifth place Reading trails the Chiefs by 11 points. This week the Chiefs will play at Atlantic City (Wednesday) and at Cincinnati (Saturday). Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. the Chiefs will host Dayton.

GAME #61 (3/12/04) Johnstown 4 - READING 3 Hildenbrand Two Goals

Bill Downey scored with 7:55 left in the third period to lift the Johnstown Chiefs to a 4-3 win over the Reading Royals, Friday night at the Sovereign Center. Steve Hildenbrand continued his scoring tear with two goals and an assist. P.L. Courchesne also scored for the Chiefs. Reading got a pair of goals from Leon Hayward, while Graig Mischler also scored. Chiefs goaltender David Currie picked up his 14th win of the season making 28 saves. Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky made 27 saves.

GAME #62 (3/13/04) JOHNSTOWN 6 - Wheeling 2 Courchesne Two Goals

The Johnstown Chiefs power play was clicking Saturday night, as they scored all six goals on the man advantage en route to a 6-2 win over the visiting Wheeling Nailers at the War Memorial in front of a sellout crowd of 3,752. Steve Hildenbrand continued his hot play with a goal and three assists. P.L. Courchesne scored twice, while Jeff Zehr, Larry Courville and Jay Langager also tallied. Wheeling got a goal from Eddie Pershin and a power play tally from J.F. Dufour. Chiefs goaltender David Currie made 26 saves for his 15th win of the season. Wheeling goaltender Tyler MacKay made 30 saves.

GAME #63 (3/14/04) JOHNSTOWN 6 - TRENTON 2 Mather Hat Trick

The Johnstown Chiefs set franchise records for most points (82) in a season and home wins in a season (24) with their 6-2 win over the Trenton Titans Sunday afternoon at the War Memorial. Shawn Mather registered the Chiefs first hat trick of the season. Chris Leinweber, Jason Notermann and Dominic Forget also scored. Larry Courville added three assists. Trenton got goals from Jeff Smith and P.J. Martin. Chiefs goaltender Cory Campbell made 22 saves for his 9th win of the season. Peter Hamerlik suffered the loss for the Titans making 18 saves.

Wednesday night, the Chiefs travel to Atlantic City to take on the second place Boardwalk Bullies (41-15-5, 87 PTS; 2nd Northern div.). The Chiefs are 3-3-1 against Atlantic City this season. The Boardwalk Bullies have won two straight games and are 6-3-1 in their last ten games. The Chiefs are 1-2-0 at Boardwalk Hall this season and have been outscored 11-3 in Atlantic City.

The Chiefs travel to Cincinnati (24-37-3, 51 PTS; 8th Northern div.) for the final time this season Saturday night. The Chiefs are 3-1-1 against the Cyclones this season. The Cyclones are 3-7-0 in their last ten games.

Sunday afternoon at the War Memorial, the Chiefs will host the Dayton Bombers (21-37-5, 47 PTS; 9th Northern div.) for the final time this season. The Chiefs are 5-3-0 against the Bombers this season. Dayton has been struggling as of late, going 2-8-0 in their last ten games. The Chiefs have outscored Dayton 27-19 this season.
