Serbus Wins ATAF Trainer Of The Year

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots are proud to announce that Ice Pilots Athletic Trainer Jason Serbus, representing NovaCare Rehabilitation - the official sports medicine provider of the Pensacola Ice Pilots, has been selected as the 2003 Athletic Trainers Association of Florida Trainer of the Year in Professional Sports. The award recognizes Serbus' hard work and dedication to the athletic training profession.

Every year, the Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida presents the Athletic Trainer of the Year Awards to individuals who have done their best to advance the profession and the association. These individuals have dedicated themselves to their jobs and have taken an active role in ATAF and in many cases are active in the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association and in the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

Athletic Trainer of the Year recipients were named in the categories of Professional ATC of the Year, College/University ATC of the Year and High School ATC of the Year. Serbus will be recognize on Saturday, April 17th at the Hilton of Orlando in Altamonte Springs.

"The best doctors and sports medicine team in the ECHL make my job easy. They all deserve recognition for their efforts in keeping the Ice Pilots on the ice every night," said Serbus.

Serbus is in his third year as the Ice Pilots athletic trainer. He represented the Ice Pilots at this year's ECHL All-Star Game as the head trainer for the Western Conference and helped the Tampa Bay Lightning during training camp this season. Serbus is 29 years old and lives in Gulf Breeze with his wife Paula.
