Toledo Walleye News Release
- Kris Waltze scored 2 goals Sunday in Dayton for the second straight Sunday. Waltze also scored two on March 7th in Dayton as well. Kris is a big fan of Sunday, with five of his six goals coming on that day. The lone exception being Friday, January 23rd in Cincinnati.
- In Sunday's game at Dayton, Nick Parillo scored at 8:01 of the first period. This goal was significant because it ended a scoreless drought of 157 minutes and 24 seconds. Toledo had not scored since Marco Charpentier netted a goal at 15:37 of the second period Sunday March 7th.
- Morten Ask continues to be the team leader in points with 51 (21-30). Nick Parillo with his assist on Morten's second period goal Sunday has tied Ask with 30 assists. Jim Abbott continues to lead the Storm with a combined goal total of 23.
- On Sunday afternoon in Dayton, Toledo registered 42 shots on goal. It was the first time Toledo had 40 plus shots in a game since January 31st, when the Storm had 42 shots against Roanoke.
- The Storm has a record of 19-6-4 when scoring 3 or more goals in a game this season. Toledo has a record of 20-11-5 when allowing 3 goals or less.
- As a result of Sunday's 5-2 win at Dayton, Toledo has collected points in the last five Sunday contests (2-0-3). Prior to this streak Toledo was 0-8-1 on Sunday.
- Toledo has 33 power play goals in 280 attempts (11.8%). Toledo is ranked 30th in the ECHL on the power play. The Storm has a record of 12-7-5 when scoring a power play goal.
- Toledo's penalty kill unit is ranked 15th in the ECHL, killing off 236 of 285 chances against (82.8%).
- Toledo is 11-17-4 at home this season and 11-14-5 on the road.
STORM WATCH
- This Wednesday night Toledo will host the Reading Royals. The Storm will welcome in the captain of the 1980 USA Olympic Gold Medal team and former Toledo Goaldigger Mike Eruzione. The doors will open at a special time of 6pm with game time set for 7:30pm. Toledo is 2-1-1 against the Royals this season.
- Friday and Saturday night the Toledo Storm will hit the road with games in Cincinnati and Dayton respectfully. Toledo is 4-3-1 against the Cyclones this season and 3-0-1 at Cincinnati. The Storm is 5-4-1 against the Bombers during this year.
- Sunday it's back to the Toledo Sports Arena for a date with Cincinnati. This will be the final meeting of the season with the Cyclones.
- The Toledo Storm coaches show is this Tuesday night at 8pm in the Downtown Frickers.
STORM PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: Kris Waltze (2 goal - 0 assists = 2 points, plus 1)
Kris scored two goals in Sunday's 5-2 victory over the Dayton Bombers. He scored both of his goals in the third period, which sealed the victory.
STORM GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK NOMINATION: Doug Teskey (1-2-0, 2.03 gaa, 0.938 save%)
Doug started all three contests this weekend posting excellent numbers. Teskey also collected his 15th win of the season, and first since February 22nd on Sunday.
