'Gades Play Four in Five Nights this Week

The Richmond Renegades are 1-4 after going 1-2 last week. The ‘Gades won their home opener for the fifth straight year but scored only two goals in their two losses. The ‘Gades play four games in five nights in four cities this week.

THE WEEK AHEAD (ALL TIMES EASTERN)

Wednesday, October 23 @ Charlotte 7:00 PM

GAME NOTES: The second of nine meetings and the first of five at Charlotte. ‘Gades beat the Checkers 6-5 in OT last Friday in Richmond. Clubs combined for 106 PIM. 11 different players scored goals. Richmond made only one visit to Charlotte last season and the ‘Gades won 5-4 in a shootout.

Friday, October 25 vs. Columbia 7:35 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of three meetings, two here. Clubs met twice last season and split. The home team won each. Richmond scored a season high seven goals vs. the Inferno here. Columbia made the playoffs as an expansion club last season with 86 points.

Saturday, October 26 @ Greensboro 7:30 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of eight meetings, four in Greensboro. Richmond won five of six meetings last season, but the only loss knocked Richmond out of the playoffs. ‘Gades were 4-0 at Greensboro last season. Generals feature new head coach Rick Adduono, former Renegade Jay Murphy, and long-time Roanoke goaltender Daniel Berthiaume.

Sunday, October 27 @ Lexington 6:00 PM

GAME NOTES: The first of two meetings and the ‘Gades only visit to Rupp Arena. First ever meeting with the Men O' War. Lexington franchise moved from Macon, where it was coached by Gord Dineen. Club traces it's history back to the Salem Lancers and is playing in it's sixth city. Lexington coached by long-time San Jose Sharks coach and scout Jim Wiley. Club is owned by former Renegades owner David Elmore.

Tuesday, October 15 @ Augusta LOSS 3-1

GAME NOTES: Richmond trailed 1-0 heading into the third period. The ‘Gades tied the game early in the third on a power play goal by Brian Goudie. The Lynx took advantage of a five-on-three power play to score the game-winner and iced the game with a shorthanded goal. The ‘Gades outshot the Lynx 32-26 but Richmond was 0-8 on the power play.

Friday, October 18 vs. Charlotte WIN 6-5 (OT)

GAME NOTES: The ‘Gades won a wild, see-saw game to celebrate their home opener. Richmond fell behind 1-0 and 2-1. The ‘Gades scored three second period goals and led 5-3 with under 30 seconds to play. Charlotte erupted for two goals in 18 seconds to force otvertime. Jayme Filipowicz scored the game-winner in OT on a power play. Jon Zion and Lars Pettersen had two assists. Four ‘Gades scored their first pro goals.

Saturday, October 19 vs. Trenton LOSS 5-1

GAME NOTES: The 'Gads collapsed in the third period after scoring first in a game for the first time this season. Richmond was trailing 2-1 with under 13 minutes to play when the Titans scored twice in 17 seconds. Trenton added their second power play goal later in the third period. Five different Titans scored. Richmond was held to 22 shots on goal.

‘GADES NOTES: The Richmond Renegades play four games in five nights this week, including three games in three nights in three cities over the weekend. The ‘Gades play 10 of their first 13 on the road. The ‘Gades home-opening overtime win over Charlotte was Richmond's fifth straight win in a home opener. Brian Goudie is now 162 PIM behind ECHL career leader Jason Clarke. Goudie now has eight PIM for the season and has moved into a tie for third on the all-time list with Cam Brown at 2,084. Goudie is the ECHL career leader in PIM amongst active players. Marc Magliarditi earned his 112th career ECHL win Friday and is now tied for ninth in league history with Mark Bernard. Four Renegades scored their first career pro goals in the win over Charlotte: Leon Hayward, Jamie Herrington, Kerry Ellis-Toddington, and Alex Matieroukine. Russ Bartlett picked up his first pro point in the loss to Trenton. John Zion picked up his first two pro points in the Charlotte win. He has three assists in his last two games. Magliarditi has started all five games in net. The ‘Gades have scored five goals in their four losses and six in their one win. Richmond has been outscored 10-2 in their last four third periods. The ‘Gades eight goals in their three games last week were scored by eight different players. Forward Nick Lent, acquired from Columbus, and defenseman Peter Hogan, sent down from Utah, will join the ‘Gades this week. Ian Turner was placed on 7-Day IR October 16. Richmond scored the first goal in their loss to Trenton Saturday. That marked the first time this season the ‘Gades scored first in a game. The ‘Gades have dressed at least seven rookies in each game. The ‘Gades are averaging 32.2 PIM per game. Richmond averaged 19.1 PIM last season. The ‘Gades allowed two goals 18 seconds apart vs. Charlotte and two goals 17 seconds apart vs. Trenton.
