The Week Ahead:

Game #5: Saturday, October 26, Cincinnati Cyclones at Toledo Storm

The Cyclones only game this week is a match-up with the first-place Toledo Storm at the Toledo Sports Arena on Saturday. The Storm under the guidance of veteran head coach Claude Noel is the Northwest Division's only unbeaten in regulation team with a mark of 4-0-1 for 9 points. One of the reasons for the team's early success has been the club's commitment to team defense. Toledo has yielded just 11 goals-against, which is the second fewest in the Northern Conference. Goaltender Brian Finley, who was assigned from Nashville (NHL) at the start of the season, is a perfect 2-0-0 while his counterpart Brian Teskey is also off to a solid start with a 2-0-1 mark and a 2.21 goals-against average. Former Cyclone Erik Anderson is pacing the attack with nine points (4g, 5a). Toledo hosts Wheeling on Friday, then must travel to Dayton on Sunday with the Cyclones sandwiched in between for a busy three-games-in-three-nights weekend.

Transactions:

This past week saw the Cyclones activate defenseman Wes Blevins and forward Mike Casselman from the 7- Day IR List. To make room for those two players, the Cyclones placed forward Sebastien Thinel and defenseman Robin Delacour on the 7-Day IR List.

Cyclones Notables:

"Power Surge" After going scoreless on the man-advantage during the opening two games, the Cyclones erupted for five power play goals on 13 chances this past weekend. The Cyclones rank 8th in the league converting at 22.7% for the season.

"Penalty-Kill Kings" On the flip-side of the special teams spectrum, the Cyclones yielded their first power-play goal against this weekend. But, the team leads the league with a 95.7% kill rate, successfully fending off 22 of 23 disadvantages.

"Eye-eye" Captain Cyclones' captain Nick Bootland missed Saturday's game at Johnstown after suffering an eye injury at Dayton on Friday. Bootland was evaluated Monday in Cincinnati and is not expected to miss any games.

New Addition to the Cyclones Family:

Cyclones broadcaster and media-relations director Gregg DeVitto and his wife Michelle had their first child on Friday, October 18 at 9:11 p.m. at Bethesda North Hospital. Mathew Gregory DeVitto checked in at 5 lbs., 4 oz. and 18 inches. DeVitto, who is in his second season with the Cyclones and 10th overall in professional hockey, missed his first two games in his career to be with his wife.

"Some things in life are a little bit more important than a regular season hockey game," said DeVitto. "I had battled through colds, sleepless bus rides, bronchitis, but never missed a game. Welcoming a baby into the world, well, that was well worth it.

DeVitto joked, "Besides, the club won both games this weekend without me there. Maybe (Cyclones head coach) Malcolm (Cameron) won't let me back on the bus after that."

Cyclones in the Community:

This coming Thursday, select Cyclones players will be available to sign autographs and meet fans at the St. Rita's Haunted House in Evendale. The players will be on hand from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Cyclone players will be at the location over the next two Thursdays while the house is in operation for the Halloween season.

Upcoming Schedule/Promotions:
