Dayton Bombers News Release

BOMBERS FALL IN ALL THREE OF WEEKEND "3-IN-3": The Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team lost all three games (in regulation) of their first "three games in three nights" sequence of the season this past weekend (1-4-0). All of last season, the Dayton Bombers never suffered regulation losses in all three games of a "three games in three nights sequence." (They did go 0-1-2 in a late December "3-in-3".) The Bombers will look to rebound in another "3-in-3" this weekend with the first games to be played against the Bombers' newest Northwest Division rivals, the Lexington Men O'War.

Below is a recap of last week's games:

10/18/02- Cincinnati 4 @ BOMBERS 3

Mike Henderson scored two goals while Aaron Brand notched two assists as the Cincinnati Cyclones edged the Dayton Bombers 4-3 at the Nutter Center. Defensemen Ryan Gaucher (Cyclones) and Scott Heffernan (Bombers) exchanged first period goals, but Henderson tallied twice in the second period to lift Cincinnati to a 3-1 advantage. The Bombers pulled to within one on defenseman Jonathan Gauthier's power play, slap shot goal at 13:19 of the third period, but Terry Ryan made it 4-2 Cyclones just 3:21 later with the man advantage. Though Matt Dzieduszycki made it a one-goal game once again at 17:33 with an even strength conversion, the Bombers could not provide the equalizer with goalie Andrew Allen pulled for an extra attacker. The Cyclones finished 3 for 9 on the power play.

10/19/02- BOMBERS 1 @ Toledo 4

The Storm vaulted to a 3-0 lead, then coasted to a 4-1 win at the Toledo Sports Arena. The Storm outshot the Bombers 41-36, including a 16-8 edge in the second period. Bombers goalie Andrew Allen made 37 saves in the team's losing effort. Whereas the Bombers were burned by a two-goal performance courtesy of a Cyclone the night before, on this night, ex-Cyclone Erik Anderson provided the two-goal effort. He also would add an assist while Mike Bayrack and Grady Moore also connected for the Storm. For the second consecutive game, defenseman Jonathan Gauthier scored on the power play for the Bombers and finished with a team high seven shots on goal.

10/20/02- Johnstown 6 @ BOMBERS 2

Just nine days earlier, the Chiefs had dealt the Bombers a four-goal home loss on Opening Night (10/11). The Chiefs repeated the feat on this night, thanks in large part to a three-goal spurt of 3:56 in length that spanned from late in the first period to early in the second. Lukas Smital (SHG), Jim Leger, and Dmitri Tarabrin recorded the goals in that stretch. Mike Renzi was given credit for his first professional goal at the 37-second mark of the third to cut the Chiefs' lead to 3-1. The Bombers made it close at 12:33 when Matt Dzieduszycki connected on the power play, but Dmitri Tarabrin (second of game, PP), Vladimir Nemec, and Gavin Hodgson (PP) tallied in a 5:15 span shortly thereafter to provide the Chiefs with an insurance cushion. The Bombers outshot the Chiefs 33-26, but saw their losing streak reach three, while the Chiefs snapped a two-game skid.
