LAST WEEK: 10/16 GREENSBORO 3, READING 5 ¨ This game was decided on special teams, with seven of the eight goals in the contest coming with the man advantage. The Generals received power play tallies from Pete Gardiner, Matt Turek, and Sam Ftorek.

10/18 GREENSBORO 4, ROANOKE 5 (OT) ¨ The Generals overcame a 3-0 second period deficit to earn a point in Roanoke's home opener. Second period goals from Jay Murphy and Chris Allen cut the gap to 3-2 after two periods, and David Whitworth knotted the score early in the third. The Express regained the lead at 4-3 later in the third period, setting up a dramatic game-tying goal from Matt Turek with just 1:41 left in regulation. The comeback wasn't enough to earn the victory, however, as Roanoke's Rick Kowalsky scored at 2:55 of overtime for the win. Despite just picking up a point in the standings, Greensboro heavily outshot Roanoke 44-24 for the evening.

10/19 GREENSBORO 2, AUGUSTA 3 ¨ Even with a second straight night of heavily outshooting their opponent (41-28), the Generals ended up one goal short. Former Lynx player Sam Ftorek tied the game for the Generals at 1-1 late in the second period, but Augusta's Brent Gauvreau put them ahead to stay with a score in the final minute of the period. Gauvreau added an insurance goal just ten seconds into the third period for what proved to be the game-winning goal.
