MANCHESTER, NH -The Manchester Monarchs dominated the Springfield Falcons in a 4-2 victory at the Verizon Wireless Arena in front of 8,113 fans on Friday night.

Manchester (28-14-1-4, 61 points) is in second place in the Atlantic Division. Springfield (17-23-2-6, 42 points) is in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.

Monarchs captain Richard Seeley scored his first goal of the season and the first goal of the game at 5:12 of the first period. Seeley scooped up the puck at the left point and sent a slap shot through traffic and past Falcons goaltender Gerald Coleman. Forward Brendan Bernakevitch and defenseman Denis Grebeshkov assisted on Seeley's goal.

Center Greg Hogeboom made it 2-0 by ricocheting the puck off a Springfield defenseman's skate and into the net for his fourth goal of the season at 6:57 of the first period. Hogeboom collected the puck from defenseman Mark Ardelan and turned on the wheels as he went streaking down the left wing. He opted to pass the puck to the front of the net and before his teammate could catch up to the puck for a shot, the Falcon's defenseman's right skate deflected it into the net.

The Falcons answered back with two quick goals of their own as defenseman Timo Helbling and left wing Chris Dingman evened the game at 2-2. Helbling's goal was similar to Seeley's first of the season as they both shot the puck from the left point past their opponent's respective goaltenders. Center Dan Cavanaugh and center Jason Jaspers assisted on Helbling's fifth goal of the season at 7:51 of the first frame.

Dingman's sixth goal of the season came on a 3-on-2 rush at 8:13 of the first period. Forward Ryan Vesce skated with the puck down the center of the Monarchs zone and sent a pass over to Dingman at the right face-off circle. Dingman let a wrist shot go that snuck past Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser. Left wing David Spina also assisted on the tying goal.

The Monarchs took possession of the second period goal scoring with tallies from center Matt Ryan and right wing Brad Smyth. Right wing Ryan Murphy controlled the puck on the right boards near the face-off circle. Murphy sent the puck over to Ryan who fired a wrist shot past the glove side of Coleman for his fifth of the season.

Smyth scored his team leading 22nd goal at 11:32 of the middle frame. Smyth was positioned at the hash marks between the two face-off circles in the Falcons zone when he received a pass from Bernakevitch. Smyth sent a one-timer over the blocker of Coleman for the insurance goal. Right wing Konstantin Pushkarev assisted on the Monarchs goal to bring the score to 4-2.

Hauser (15-9-2) stopped seven shots in the first period of play before being replaced by Barry Brust. Brust (11-4-1) earned the victory with 17 saves in two periods of action. Coleman (11-13-3) took his 13th loss of the season stopping 19 shots.
