Bulldogs Set to Scuttle Pirates on Friday

The Hamilton Bulldogs (18-29-0-2) face the Portland Pirates (28-12-4-3) tonight for the first time this season. Both teams will be looking for their second straight win. The Pirates sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 63 points.

BULLDOGS NOTES

- RW Andrei Kostitsyn has recorded four points (two goals, two assists) in his past two games. Kostitsyn scored the ‘Dogs lone goal and was named the game's third star on Saturday, January 28, when Hamilton dropped a 4-1 decision to the Rochester Americans. Kostitsyn followed that with a three-point performance (one goal, two assists) and garnered first star honours on Sunday, January 29 as the Bulldogs defeated the Manitoba Moose 5-4 in a shootout.

- C Corey Locke posted one goal and one assist on Jan. 29. It was Locke's first multipoint game since Saturday, December 10.

- G Yann Danis and Locke represented Hamilton at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic, which was played on Wednesday, February 1 at the MTS Centre in Manitoba. Both Bulldogs played for the Canadian AHL All-Star team.

- Danis was named co-winner, along with Manitoba Moose G Wade Flaherty, of the Rbk Hockey Most Valuable Player Award at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. Both Danis and Flaherty each stopped 12 of the 13 shots they faced to help the Canadian AHL All-Star team defeat the Planet USA AHL All-Stars by a score of 9-4.

- Canadiens C Tomas Plekanec scored as Montreal dropped a 3-1 decision to the Boston Bruins. Former Bulldog G Tim Thomas made 16 saves for Boston to earn the win.

- Blue Jackets D Ron Hainsey earned an assist and LW Jason Chimera scored in the shootout as Columbus defeated the Edmonton Oilers 2-1. Oilers C Jarret Stoll collected an assist.

BULLDOGS BATTLE MONARCHS TOMORROW

The Bulldogs return to the ice tomorrow, Saturday, February 4, when they visit the Manchester Monarchs at Verizon Wireless Arena in New Hampshire. Game time is 7:35 p.m.

Hamilton's next home game will take place on Friday, February 11, when the Portland Pirates visit Copps Coliseum (7:00 p.m.).
