Houston Aeros News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Houston Aeros center Patrick O'Sullivan has been named the Rbk Hockey/AHL Rookie of the Month for January. In 13 games on the month, O'Sullivan recorded nine goals and nine assists for 18 points for the Western Conference leaders.
O'Sullivan registered six multiple-point games in January, beginning with his first career hat trick during a 5-3 victory at San Antonio on Jan. 5. He put together a six-game scoring streak from Jan. 12-22, including scoring two first-period goals in a 5-1 win over Rochester on Jan. 20, and added a goal and an assist in a 5-4 win over Chicago on Jan. 28 as Houston finished 9-4-0-0 on the month. O'Sullivan closed out January by representing the Aeros at the 2006 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic in Winnipeg.
In recognition of his achievement, O'Sullivan will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Aeros home game.
A second-round draft pick by the Minnesota Wild in 2003, O'Sullivan celebrated his 21st birthday by scoring a goal in Wednesday's 2006 AHL All-Star Game. This season, he leads all AHL rookies with 25 goals and 50 points while skating in 46 games for the Aeros. O'Sullivan, a native of Winston-Salem, N.C., represented the United States at the 2004 World Junior Championships and scored the winning goal versus Canada to give the U.S. its first-ever gold medal.
The first-place Aeros take on second-place Milwaukee on Saturday at Toyota Center at 7:35 p.m. It's 60's Night, and the first 3,000 fans will receive Set 2 of Aeros Trading Cards. It's also Special Olympics Night, presented by Direct Energy. Click here to buy tickets.
