Baines Earns CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month Award

NORFOLK, VA - Today, the American Hockey League (AHL) named Norfolk Admirals ' center Ajay Baines the recipient of the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month award for January. The accolade recognizes the Admirals' captain for playing in his 400th AHL game during which he became the franchise's all-time leading scorer.

On January 13th at Norfolk Scope, Baines assisted on Martin St. Pierre's goal in the first period for his 174th AHL and Admirals career point. He also scored a goal in the second period, snapping a 3-3 tie as Norfolk went on to defeat Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5-3. That game was the 400th of his AHL career, all played in a Norfolk uniform. Baines surpassed Marty Wilford, who accumulated 173 career points in four seasons (2000-01, 2002-2005) with the Admirals.

The 27-year old Kamloops, BC, native made his AHL debut with the Admirals on October 11, 2000, during their inaugural AHL campaign. Baines has served as Norfolk's team captain since the 2002-03 season. In addition to leading Norfolk in career points, he is also currently first in games played (408) and second in goals (68) and assists (107).

In recognition of earning the CCM/AHL Milestone of the Month, Baines will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Admirals home game.
