Bisons Drop a Close One Despite Young's Three-Hit Night

Buffalo Bisons News Release
BUFFALO, NY - After splitting a doubleheader last night, the Buffalo Bisons fell to the Syracuse Mets 3-2 on Thursday night from Sahlen Field.
Derek Holland made the start for the Bisons and threw two no-hit innings while facing the minimum despite walking two batters; with two on and one away in the second, Holland picked off both runners on back-to-back plays to get out of a jam and end the inning.
Nick Allgeyer followed and gave up three runs (two earned) over 2.1 innings off RBI knocks by Mark Vientos and Khalil Lee, before a Francisco Álvarez sac fly made it 3-0.
The Bisons offence was largely shut down by Mets starter Tim Adleman, who gave up just two hits through his first five innings of work, both of them to Chavez Young. The second of Young's three hits on the night left the ballpark, however, before Eric Stamets went deep in the fifth to cut the lead to one.
Adleman ultimately went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs off four hits while walking none and striking out six.
Andrew Bash and Jeremy Beasley combined to throw 4.2 innings of one-hit, shutout ball while striking out four to keep the offence within one, but the Bisons just couldn't seem to string together hits.
The rehabbing Danny Jansen, who went 2-4 with a double while DH'ing, led off the bottom of the ninth with a single but would ultimately be stranded at second as Bryce Montes de Oca closed things out.
The Bisons and Mets will continue their series tomorrow night, with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. EST.
