Saints Steer Selected to SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game in Los Angeles on July 16

ST. PAUL, MN - Fans in Wichita and St. Paul have witnessed the incredible talent of infielder Spencer Steer this season. Now, the rest of the baseball world will get to see his skills on the biggest stage. Steer was selected to the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Dodger Stadium on July 16.

The 24-year-old Steer is currently hitting .243 with 11 home runs and 28 RBI in 36 games for the Saints. In 152 at bats, he's scored 31 runs, smacked nine doubles, one triple and slashed .243/.329/.533 for an .862 OPS. Combined with his 35 games at Double-A Wichita, Steer is hitting .273 with 19 home runs and 58 RBI. He has scored 58 runs, roped 22 doubles, two triples, and slashed .273/.356/.561 for a .917 OPS. His 43 extra base hits are tied for second in the Minors, he's sixth in total bases with 162, and his 19 home runs are tied for 15th, one behind Minnesota Twins prospect Matt Wallner who was also selected to the Futures Game.

Steer was the third-round pick by the Twins in 2019 out of the University of Oregon. In his first season in the organization, he played 20 games with the rookie level Elizabethton Twins and 44 games at Single-A Cedar Rapids. Between the two stops Steer hit .280 with four home runs and 33 RBI in 64 games. He smacked 18 doubles, three triples, a 385 on base percentage, .424 slugging percentage for a .809 OPS.

Last season Steer played 45 games at High-A Cedar Rapids and 65 games with Wichita hitting .254 with 24 home runs and 66 RBI in 110 games. He scored 82 runs, ripped 18 doubles, three triples, a .348 on base percentage, .484 slugging percentage, for a .832 OPS.

Steer is the first Futures Game Selection for the Saints. Last season, Josh Winder was promoted to the Saints two days prior to the announcement, but hadn't yet pitched for the team.

The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game takes place on Saturday, July 16 at 6:00 p.m. central at the home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The seven-inning contest pits the top prospects of the American League vs. National League and will be broadcast live on Peacock and SiriusXM. A total of 31 of the 50 players on the roster are currently ranked in MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospect List.
