WINNER WINNER, PIG DINNER: The Rochester Red Wings won game 2 of the six-game set against Lehigh Valley 4-0...RHP Cade Cavalli pitched seven shutout innings allowing just two hits while striking out seven...2B Jake Noll hit a solo shot in the second inning marking the 35th time the Wings have scored first this season (22-13 when doing so)...Noll would hit a two-RBI double an inning later to give Rochester a 3-0 lead...1B Joey Meneses went 4-for-4 with an RBI and walk, reaching base in all five of his plate appearances...RHP Hunter Harvey and LHP Alberto Baldonado came in relief, pitching a pair of scoreless innings...Rochester is just one game back of first place in the International League-East.
IT WAS CADE'S DAY: RHP Cade Cavalli pitched seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven IronPigs...Cavalli was perfect through five and a third, retiring 16 consecutive batters...the Wings' top prospect has given up just one earned run in his last 12 innings against Lehigh Valley...Cavalli now has a 1.53 ERA (47 IP/8 ER) in outings where he goes at least five innings, in comparison to a 11.64 ERA (20.1 IP/26 ER), where he goes fewer than five innings...the righty has been the starting pitcher in three of Rochester's seven shutouts this season...the former Oklahoma Sooner now leads the Red Wings in innings pitched with 67.1 in 2022.
JOEY GOT HIMSELF A 4-FOR-4: 1B Joey Meneses tied his season-high in hits going 4-for-4 with an RBI and walk in Wednesday night's win over Lehigh Valley...the first baseman has collected four hits in three seperate games against the IronPigs this season...the 30-year-old was just 2-for-29 over an eight game span, prior to his three game hit-streak...Meneses is 23-for-54 (.426) with three doubles, three homers and 11 RBI versus his former squad this season.
CAN WE KEEP HIM?: C Riley Adams went 2-for-5 with a double in last night's contest in Lehigh Valley...Adams is 4-for-12 (.333) with a home run and pair of doubles in three games since being optioned to Rochester.
NOLL KEEPS KNOCKING: 2B Jake Noll went 2-for-4 with a home run and double, knocking in three of the Wings' four runs...the veteran has a hit in six-straight games and 14-out-of-15, going 18-for-58 (.310) over that span...with his two-run double in the third inning, Noll now leads the International League with 22 doubles (his teammate Andrew Stevenson is in a three-way tie for second with 21).
ON A HIGHWAY TO HITS: OF Andrew Stevenson and 1B Joey Meneses currently rank third (88) and tied for fourth (87) for total hits in the International League-East, respectively...additionally, Stevenson's .308 (88-for-286) average is good for sixth in the IL while Meneses' .291 (87-for-299) AVG earns him the eight spot...Rochester is currently the only IL team with two players in the top 10 batting average or in the top five in hits.
PUSHING P(ALACIOS): OF Josh Palacios went 1-for-5 in the Wings' win last night, reaching on a bunt single in the top of the 7th...the lefty extended his on-base streak to 15 games (since 6/19)...the Brooklyn-native is slashing .276/.366/.425 (59-for-214) and has the fourth-most hits (59) and is tied for fifth-most doubles (9) on the club this season.
MR. DENT: RHP Hunter Harvey made his first rehab appearance last night for the Red Wings...the righty pitched a scoreless eighth inning, working himself out of a jam with a pair of fly-outs...the reliever is yet to allow a run in three appearances with Rochester this season.
JUST HIT BOMBS: With Jake Noll's blast in last night's win, Rochester improves to 30-11 in games they hit a home run in this season...the Wings have now homered in seven of their last eight wins.
NO SCORY CORY: RHP Cory Abbott will start for Rochester today as the Wings look to take a 2-1 series lead over Lehigh Valley...Abbott has a 2.23 ERA (12.1 IP/3 ER) over his last four stars and has now allowed an earned run in his last two outings...since joining the Red Wings on May 4 the California-native leads all starters averaging 12.6 K/9 (20 IP/28 K).
