Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The cup is coming to Condorstown. No, not the Kelly Cup. The NHL's holy grail, the Stanley Cup, will be at the Condors game Wednesday against the Johnstown Chiefs at 7 pm at Rabobank Arena. This meeting will be the only time that these two teams meet during the regular season.
Wednesday night is also the annual Project Warm Families Coat Collection courtesy of KGET-TV 17, News Radio 970 KGET and Barber Honda. Fans who donate a new or slightly used coat will receive $1 terrace admission on November 30th. The coats will be collected and distributed to needy families by Junior Achievement. Last year a record of 2,860 coats were collected, bringing the events total number of coats collected close to 12,000.
Fans will have the opportunity to take a photo with the NHL's Stanley Cup during the Stanley Cup Tour for Hurricane Relief. Proceeds will be donated to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; especially the two ECHL teams, the Mississippi Sea Wolves and Texas Wildcatters, who were unable to play this season.
Every fan in attendance will also receive a commerative Old Time Hockey poster featuring Condors posed as characters from the classic hockey film Slapshot.
Wednesday's game will be the first T.H.I.N.K Night courtesy of Mercy & Memorial Hospitals & ARRC Technology. Turn Hockey Into New Knowledge program allows students to earn terrace tickets to tonight's game through exceptional performance.
After the game visit the Holiday Inn Select Autograph Booth where forward Dennis Shiryaev and defenseman Nate Metcalf will be signing autographs. The Holiday Inn Select Autograph booth is located behind section 108.
