Ice Pilots Win 6-5 Shootout at Greenville

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots defeated the Greenville Grrrowl on Sunday 6-5 in a shootout at the Bilo Center in Greenville, South Carolina.

The Ice Pilots would score the first three goals of the game. Adam Courchaine scored his first goal of the year at the 3:27 mark of the first period going five hole on Grrrowl goalie Mike Broduer. Chris St. Jacques would score a power play goal on a five on three advantage at the 7:02 mark and Luke Fulghum also scored on the power play at the 10:39 mark on a hard slap shot from between the circles.

Dan Baum would score for Greenville at the 12:56 mark tipping in a shot from in front of the net to make it 3-1 but Matt Turek of the Ice Pilots would score his fourth goal of the season on a hard slap shot to give the Ice Pilots a 4-1 lead after the first period.

The Grrrowl would pull to with in two goals as Adam Nightingale scored his third goal of the year at the 12:27 mark of the second period. Adam Courchaine would give the Ice Pilots the three goal lead back scoring his second of the game wristing a shot from the right wing circle just under the crossbar and the Ice Pilots would lead 5-2.

The Grrrowl would battle back and tie the game with three goals in the third period. Tim Sestito, Tyler Mosienko and John Snowden would score goals to tie the game at 5. Sestito scored at 11:08, Mosienko at 11:55 and Snowden with 7:11 left in regulation.

Chris St. Jacques and Nick Lindberg scored goals for the Ice Pilots in the shootout. Alan Sirois would score for Greenville. Ice Pilots goalie Frederic Cloutier stopped Les Haggett in the fifth round of the shootout and the Ice Pilots would get the 6-5 shootout win.

The Ice Pilots had 29 shots on goal and went 2-5 on the power play. Greenville had 44 shots on goal and went 0-4 on the power play. Frederic Cloutier was the winning goalie and Mike Brodeur picked up the shootout loss in go al for Greenville.

The Ice Pilots will continue their five game road trip on Tuesday night at Columbia at 6:05 p.m. Fans will be able to listen to the game on the Ice Pilots Hockey Network beginning with the pre game show at 5:50 p.m. with flagship station AM 1620 and at www.icepilots.com sponsored by Sports Avenue.

The Ice Pilots will return home to play Bakersfield in three games on December 2, 3 and 4. It is the Triple Play Jackpot Weekend with $15,000 to be given away. $5,000 will be given away each night. A Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the Ice Pilots home game on Sunday, December 4 vs. Bakersfield at 4:05 p.m. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal teddy bear to the game and throw it onto the ice when the Ice Pilots score their first goal of the game. The teddy bears will be distributed to local charities in the community.
