Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads have regained first place in their division after snapping the Utah Grizzlies nine-game winning streak and taking two heated games from their divisional foes on the weekend. The Grizzlies were a point ahead of the Steelheads heading into Friday night's contest, but Idaho's 7-4 post turkey-day win and another 5-1 victory on Saturday catapulted the Steelheads three points in front.

Next, Idaho travels to Las Vegas to take on the Wranglers who are undefeated (7-0-0) at home this season. The two teams face off for the first time in the 2005-06 season, Friday and Saturday nights, before Idaho returns home to Qwest Arena on Wednesday, December 7th when Lord Stanley's Cup will pay a visit (more details to follow this week).

TOP OF HIS LEAGUE:

Garett Bembridge (RW) leads the league in points with 25 and in goals with 13...Bembridge notched a season-high, team-high and ECHL-best six points (3g, 3a) in Friday night's 7-4 win over Utah...his three-goal game was the first hat trick for Idaho this season. Bembridge, who is one of Idaho's two assistant captains this season, says his biggest hockey moment was getting drafted. The 6-foot, 190-pound 24-year-old was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the 5th round (137th overall) of the 1999 NHL Draft, and again drafted in 2001 by the Calgary Flames in the 7th round (207th overall).

COMMUNITY: The Idaho Steelheads thank their generous fans for supporting two great causes last weekend... Several hundred books were collected Friday night for the book drive to benefit St. Vincent de Paul's Booklets Program - The books will be distributed to children from low-income families. In addition, on Saturday night fans brought along new and gently-used sports equipment to donate to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County - equipment ranged from hockey gear, skates, golf clubs, footballs, soccer balls, baseball bats and gloves, and everything in between! The Steelheads gave every fan who made a donation a ticket for an upcoming game.
