
Former Storm Goalie Finley Wins AHL Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Milwaukee goaltender Brian Finley, who began his
professional career with Toledo in the ECHL, was named CCM Vector/AHL
Player of the Week by the American Hockey League on Monday after going
3-0-0 with two shutouts while stopping 96 of 97 shots.
The 24-year-old Finley posted back-to-back wins at San Antonio making 29
saves in a 3-1 win on Wednesday and 28 saves in a 4-0 win on Saturday. He
recorded his second straight shutout with 39 saves on Sunday at Houston to
finish the week with a goals-against average of 0.33 and a save percentage
of .990. Finley, who missed a month earlier this season with an ankle
injury, is 4-0-0 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 1.54 and a
save percentage of .950 in six games for the Admirals.
Selected in the first round (6th overall) by the Nashville Predators in the
1999 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-3 and 200-pound Finley is one of only seven
goaltenders in ECHL history to be selected sixth-or-higher in the NHL Entry
Draft and is the second-highest draft choice to play in the ECHL. In
2002-03, Finley was 4-2-0 with a goals against average of 2.36 and a save
percentage of .918 in seven regular season games with Toledo while also
appearing in one playoff game for the Storm.

Gherson, who began the season with Columbia of the ECHL; Hershey center
Dave Steckel, who played for Reading in 2004-05; Iowa goaltender
Mike Smith, who was an ECHL All-Star in 2002-03; Lowell center
Keith Aucoin, who played for Florida in 2001-02; Manitoba forward
Jessie Schultz, who played for Columbia in 2003-04; Norfolk
goaltender Adam Munro, who played for Gwinnett in 2003-04 and
Atlantic City in 2004-05; Peoria forward Mike Glumac, who was an
ECHL All-Star in 2002-03; Philadelphia center Brent Kelly, who
played for Johnstown in 2003-04 and 2004-05; Providence center Ben
Guite, who played for Tallahassee in 2000-01; and Syracuse center
Geoff Platt, who played for Atlantic City in 2004-05.
