Chihuahuas Win, 9-3, in Season-Opening Game
March 27, 2026 - The El Paso Chihuahuas scored six runs in the fifth inning Friday night in Sacramento and beat the River Cats 9-3 in the first game of the 2026 season. The fifth inning rally included seven singles.
San Diego Padres pitcher Matt Waldron started and threw three shutout innings on MLB Injury Rehab. Waldron struck out three batters and didn't walk any. Padres' infielder Sung-Mun Song also played for El Paso on MLB rehab and went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Chihuahuas center fielder Jase Bowen hit the team's first home ... Iowa Scores Five Runs in Opening Night Win over Columbus
March 27, 2026 - DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (1-0) scored five runs on six hits to lead them to a 5-2 win over the Columbus Clippers (0-1) tonight at Principal Park.
The I-Cubs scored the first run of the game in the second inning when Jonathon Long scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the second inning to give Iowa a 1-0 lead.
The Cubs added on to their lead in the sixth inning, courtesy of a pair of RBI singles by Brett Bateman and Long and a two-RBI triple by J ustin Dean to extend their lead to 5-0.

Red Wings Rally for First Opening Day Victory Since 2019
March 27, 2026 - Kicking off the season in Jacksonville for the first time since 1967, the Rochester Red Wings used a five-run sixth inning and 10 total walks to beat the Jumbo Shrimp in a thrilling Opening Day matchup Friday night, 8-7. 1B Abimelec Ortiz led the way offensively, reaching base five times in five plate appearances with two hits and three walks. RF Andrew Pinckney also picked up a pair of hits and RBI, going 2-for-5 out of the seventh spot in the lineup.

Memphis Shuts out Gwinnett to Start 2026 Season
March 27, 2026 - MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis Redbirds took the first game of the 2026 season by a final score of 3-0 on Friday night at the Gwinnett Stripers (Triple-A, Atlanta Braves).
Third baseman Ramon Mendoza started the scoring with a solo home run in his first plate appearance of the season. The right-handed hitter doubled the Memphis lead with an RBI double in the fourth inning. Mendoza finished the opener 3-for-4 with the home run and two RBIs.
