Sacramento River Cats News Release
West Sacramento, CA. - The Sacramento River Cats (15-15) sported their Dorado De Sacramento persona for the first time this season to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and smashed four home runs on the afternoon, but dropped game three of the series with the Reno Aces (13-17) by a score of 12-6.
The River Cats got off on the wrong foot Sunday, giving up six runs, including a grand slam in the very first inning. Ty Blach returned from a brief stint with the Giants but was unable to find the zone in the first. The lefty walked three batters in the opening frame after he had walked just two batters in his previous four starts combined. The bullpen was roughed up in this one as well, getting tagged for an additional six runs. Williams Jerez was the lone bright spot for the River Cats staff, as the 26-year old tossed a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout.
Offensively the River Cats tried to claw their way back into the game with the long ball. Zach Green got the River Cats going with a solo home run in the second and followed up with another in his second at-bat of the game. Mike Yastrzemski and Abiatal Avelino would both hit solo shots of their own.
Enderson Franco (1-0, 6.20) will look to split the series with the Aces in his sixth start of the year. The Aces will attempt to win the series with righty Braden Shipley (1-0, 8.68). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT). Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, or on Money 105.5 FM.
Additional Notes
- The River Cats hit four home runs in today's game, which is the third time they have done that this year. The River Cats have had multiple home run games in 17 of 30 games this season.
- Francisco Pena went 1-4 in his River Cats debut while driving in two runs. In six games with Memphis, Pena hit .333 with one homer and four runs batted in.
