PCL1 Salt Lake Bees

Walsh Homer Not Enough for Bees

May 5, 2019 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees rallied from four runs down to take a 5-4 lead, but they were unable to hold on, as the El Paso Chihuahuas came from behind for a 7-5 win on Saturday night.

Down 4-0, Salt Lake scored their first run in the third on an RBI double by Matt Thaiss. In the fifth, Dustin Garneau walked and Ty Kelly reached on an infield single. Both runners moved up on a ground out and Garneau scored when Jose Rojas reached on an error. Jared Walsh followed with his second three run homer in as many nights to give the Bees a one run lead. In the bottom of the fifth, there were two outs and no one on base when Seth Mejias-Brean hit a fly ball to left that looked to be the last out of the inning, but left fielder Cesar Puello slipped and fell with the ball falling for a triple. Three runs eventually scored before the third out could be recorded by Parker Bridwell (0-2). The Bees' bats were quieted by the El Paso bullpen, which tossed four and two-third scoreless innings.

Salt Lake starter Patrick Sandoval made his Triple-A debut and went three and two-third innings and allowed four runs, one earned, on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Walsh led the Bees with two hits and three runs batted in, while Jarrett Parker added two hits, including a double.
