Reno Aces News Release
Sacramento, Calif. - The Aces offense came alive on Sunday afternoon in downtown Sacramento. Reno defeated the River Cats 12-6 behind a six-run first inning capped off by an Abraham Almonte grand slam. As a team, the Biggest Little Ballclub tallied 14 hits and drew seven walks to earn their 13th win of the season. Right-hander Taylor Widener went five innings, struck out five, and allowed four runs on five hits.
Two walks and a double set the table for Abraham Almonte in the top of the first inning. Facing River Cats southpaw Ty Blach, Almonte laced a fastball onto the left-field berm for his third career grand slam. Another walk and three consecutive hits later, Reno ended the inning with a 6-0 advantage. Widner, pitching with a lead, left the contest with a 6-4 advantage. After four scoreless offensive innings, the Aces offense put up two in the sixth and four in the seventh to solidify the win. The Aces and Sacramento will square off one more time before Reno heads to the Pacific Northwest for a four-game set in Tacoma.

Notes & Information
Grand: Aces outfielder Abraham Almonte got the scoring started early with a grand slam off River Cats starter Ty Blach. It was Almonte's third career grand slam, and first at the Triple-A level. His last slam came as a member of the Kansas City Royals on April 22, 2018. His fist came on August 30, 2015 with Cleveland. Almonte has hit 79 career home runs during his 14-year career and two with the Aces.
Raise the Roof: Long-time Aces slugger and current Miami Marlin Peter O'Brien made his mark at Marlins Park this afternoon. With the roof closed, O'Brien skied a pinch-hit double off the roof in the top of the 10th inning. O'Brien played for Reno in 2015 and 2016, was a mid-season All-Star in '15 and hit 50 homers for the Biggest Little ballclub.
