
Wranglers Sweep through Weekend

Las Vegas, NV-The Las Vegas Wranglers swept through the weekend with two wins in two games. The Wranglers returned home after their six-game East Coast road trip and ended a six-game winless skid. Friday night the Wranglers defeated the Alaska Aces in front of 6,907 fans at the Orleans Arena. Las Vegas followed up with a 5-1 win over the San Diego Gulls on Saturday night. Las Vegas will host the defending Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on Wednesday night at 7:05 pm. The Wranglers will not play again until December 14th at Fresno.

Las Vegas 2 vs. Alaska 1
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Alaska Aces 2-1 at the Orleans Arena in front of a near capacity crowd of 6,907 on Friday night. Deryk Engelland and Ryan Christie scored to give the Wranglers their first win since November 8th. Las Vegas goaltender Marc Magliarditi made 24 saves for his tenth win of the season. Dan Murphy gave up two goals on 27 Las Vegas shots for the Alaska loss. The Las Vegas win ended the team's season-high winless streak at six games (0-4-2).
The Aces jumped on the board first after a scoreless first period. Joe Talbot tucked in a rebound with 11:02 passed in the second period for the 1-0 Alaska lead.
The Wranglers countered with two goals in 23 seconds of the third period. At 9:16 Wranglers' center Jeff Attard zipped a pass to Ryan Christie who was streaking down the right wing. Christie tipped in the puck for his fourth of the season tying the game 1-1. Las Vegas defenseman Deryk Engelland wristed a shot from the right-circle past Murphy just 23 seconds later for the 2-1 lead. Engelland's first goal as a professional gave the Wranglers the lead for good at 2-1.
Saturday, November 29th
Las Vegas 5 vs. San Diego 1
Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the San Diego Gulls 5-1 at the Orleans Arena on Saturday night. Wranglers' goaltender Brent Krahn stopped 35 Gulls shots for his first win as a professional. Krahn finished just 11 seconds shy of his first professional shutout. Justin Kelly scored twice with Tom Nelson, Ryan Christie, and Eric Schneider also scoring in the win. San Diego's Mike Garrow spoiled Krahn's shutout bid with 11 seconds to go for the only Gulls' goal of the night.
After a scoreless first period, Eric Schneider opened up the scoring with his second of the season on a breakaway only one minute into the second period. 2:07 later, Justin Kelly sent a shot across the San Diego goal-line off the skate of a Gulls defender for a 2-0 Wranglers lead. With just under three minutes to go in the second period, Ryan Christie stuffed home a rebound off a Chris Wheaton shot giving Las Vegas a 3-0 lead. During the second period goaltender Brent Krahn made numerous saves while San Diego enjoyed a 5-on-3 power play.
In the final period the Wranglers struck two more times. First, Kelly added his second of the night from Tom Nelson and Chris Kenady for the 4-0 Wranglers' lead. Nelson added a breakaway goal with under four minutes to go expanding the Wranglers' lead to 5-0. With 11 seconds left, San Diego's Garrow ended Krahn's shutout for his second goal of the season and a final score of 5-1.
The five goals scored by the Wranglers marked the first time Las Vegas scored more than two goals in one game since November 8th.
