The Checkers (5-8-3 for 13 points) will play one final home game Tuesday at Cricket Arena before embarking on a season-long, seven-game road trip. The Checkers will come back to the Carolinas for one final game on the seven-game trip, playing in South Carolina on Tuesday, December 16. Charlotte's first home game after the road trip will be Saturday, December 20 against Gwinnett, as the Checkers will then play five of their next seven games on Cricket Arena ice.

The Gladiators hold a two-point, first place lead over Louisiana in the ECHL's Central Division of the Western Conference with a record of 12-4-3 for 27 points. The Gladiators are led in scoring by center Brandon Dietrich with 2g-19a = 21pts. Left wing Mike Vigilante (4g-14a = 18 pts), Gwinnett's second leading scorer, was recalled last weekend by the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League. FRIDAY'S & SATURDAY'S PREVIEW: Charlotte will play a two-game weekend series in San Diego. The Gulls are unbeaten in seven of their last eight games and are moving up in the standings. However, the Gulls have also been recently plagued with numerous injuries. With their 3-1 record last week, the Blue and Orange moved from sixth to fourth place in the Pacific Division, now trailing the front-running Idaho Steelheads and Las Vegas Wranglers by six points and the second-place Alaska Aces by five points. San Diego has four games in hand on Idaho and Vegas and five games in hand on Alaska. The Gulls are 6-1-1 in their last seven games. San Diego is averaging 4.29 goals scored per home game, but just 1.44 goals scored per road game. Gulls Head Coach Steve Martinson needs six more wins for 400 all-time in the regular season. San Diego was one of six teams from the former West Coast Hockey League that joined the ECHL this past summer. The Gulls won five WCHL "Taylor Cup" champion! ships. Left wing Mark Petersen leads the Gulls in scoring with 8g-7a=15pts.
