Titans Take One of Three from Nailers

TRENTON, NJ - Trenton started the weekend tied for fourth place with Wheeling and entering a three-game, three-day series with the Nailers.

Friday night at Sovereign Bank Arena, the Nailers and Nick Boucher blanked the Titans 2-0. Saturday, the Titans traveled down to WesBanco Arena but could not solve Wheeling as the Nailers skated away with a 5-2 win. On Sunday, the Titans were able to rebound as it was their rookie goaltender, Chris Houle, who posted the shutout and the 3-0 victory.

Trenton dropped to fifth place in the Northern Division after the weekend series. The Titans travel to Dayton to take on the Bombers on Saturday, December 6 at 7:00pm. The team then continues on to Wheeling for their fourth meeting on the season on Sunday, December 7 at 6:00pm.

LAST WEEK:

Friday, November 28 vs. Wheeling - 7:30pm 2-0 Sovereign Bank Arena

- Bogdan Rodenko and J.F. Dufour scored goals :24 apart and rookie goaltender Nick Boucher turned away 28 of 28 shots for his first professional shutout. The Titans had there six-game ppg streak snapped as they were 0 for 9 with the man advantage.

Saturday, November 29 @ Wheeling - 7:30pm 5-2 WesBanco Arena

- Both teams exploded for five goals in the second period, but it was J.C Ruid's goal with the two-man advantage at 19:49 of the second period that proved to be the game-winner. J.F. Dufour and Dan Ennis put the puck in the net just :28 apart, but goals by Mathieu Brunelle and Jeff Smith knotted the score at 2-2. Steve Crampton and Eddi Persion would add goals in the third period for the Nailers.

Saturday, November 30 @ Wheeling - 6:00pm 3-0 WesBanco Arena

- Looking to take the last game in the three-game series, the Titans got a stellar effort from rookie goaltender, Chris Houle. Houle stopped all 44 shots he faced to record his second shutout in five starts. Bryce Cockburn, Peter Fregoe and Marty Johnston all put the puck in the net for the Titans.

THIS WEEK:

Saturday, December 6 @ Dayton - 7:00 pm Nutter Center

- The first of six meetings between these two squads. The two teams have never met in the postseason. The Titans were 3-1 versus the Bombers last season

Sunday, December 7 @ Wheeling - 6:00 pm Wheeling Civic Center

- The fourth of six games this season. Wheeling holds the 2-1 season advantage. Nick Boucher is 2-0 versus the Titans with a 1.61 GAA and .986 save percentage.

ECHL Player of the Week Nominee:

Peter Fregoe - Fregoe scored for the first time since October 18 as he notched a goal and an assist Sunday night versus Wheeling. He was also +1 for the weekend. ECHL Goalie of the Week Nominee: Chris Houle - Houle went 1-1 over the week stopping 75 of 77 shots while posting a 3-0 shutout win against Wheeling on Sunday night. Over the weekend, his GAA was 1.00 and his save percentage was .974.

* Chris Houle pitched his second shutout in seven starts, stopping all 44 shots he faced against Wheeling on 11/30/03

* Marty Johnston's seven-game road assist streak was snapped on 11/30/03 @ WHL, but he did put on in the net for his third goal of the year

* Scott Bertoli had his six game pooint score streak halted versus Wheeling on 11/28/03

* Titans went 0-for-17 on the power play during their three game set against Wheeling
