Titans Rebound With 3-0 Shutout

December 1, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release

The Trenton Titans knew the final game of their weekend series with the Wheeling Nailers was a must-win if they wanted to keep pace with their rivals in the Northern Division. The Titans can breathe a little easier as they came away with the 3-0 win despite being outshot 44-20

The scoring started early for the Titans as Bryce Cockburn pounced on a deflected shot and slipped it through the five-hole of Tyler McKay for a 1-0 lead just 1:52 into the game. Peter Fregoe was able to extend the Titans lead on yet another deflected shot. With the Titans on the power play, Scott Bertoli slapshot from the point found its way onto the stick Fregoe, who put it into the open net for his second goal of the season and his first since October 18.

Chris Houle would make the goals count and Marty Johnston would add an insurance goal in the third period for the Titans. Houle turned away all 44 Nailers shots for his fifth win of the season and his second shutout in seven starts.

The Titans skate into Dayton on Saturday, December 6th, 7:00pm to take on the Bombers at the Nutter Center. Trenton continues on Wheeling to take on the Nailers once again on Sunday, December 7 at 6:00pm.
