The Week Ahead:

Tuesday, December 2, Vs Reading – 7:05 @ North Charleston Coliseum

This is the only meeting of the season between these two teams. The Stingrays lost a pair of games in Reading last season. The Stingrays have lost two straight home games.

At the Coliseum: Hooters Two for Tuesday. Two for one tickets, hot dogs and two dollar beers.

Friday, December 5, Vs Florence – 7:30 @ Florence Civic Center

Radio: ESPN Radio 1340 & Stingrayshockey.com. Air Time: 7:00

This is the second game of the season between these two teams. The Stingrays topped the Pride at the Coliseum on October 28, by the score of 3-0. Florence is currently in sixth place in the Southern Division with a record of 7-9-2.

Saturday, December 6, Vs Gwinnett - 7:30 @ North Charleston Coliseum

Radio: CNN Radio 1450 & Stingrayshockey.com. Air Time: 7:00

The Stingrays have faced the Gladiators twice this season, with a record of 1-1. Gwinnett sits in first place in the Central Division with a record of 12-4-3.

At the Coliseum: Debbie's Kids Teddy Bear Toss, fans are encouraged to throw a stuffed toy onto the ice following the Stingrays first goal.

Wednesday, November 26, Stingrays 4 Vs Florida 5

The Everblades came from a two goal deficit in the third period to win and spoil Mike Jickling's two goal performance.

Friday, November 27, Stingrays 4 @ Charlotte 1

Ed Courtenay had two goals including an empty netter and Chris Allen scored the game winner on a power play as the Rays extended their road unbeaten streak to three games.

Rays Sign Bonsignore

The South Carolina Stingrays signed first round draft pick Jason Bonsignore over the weekend. Bonsignore was the fourth overall pick in the 1994 NHL entry draft by the Edmonton Oilers. The seventh year professional played last season for the Springfield Falcons and the Lowell Lock Monsters for the American Hockey League. In 49 games he had ten goals and 16 assists last year. Bonsignore has played 79 NHL games in his career, scoring three goals and adding 13 assists. He stands 6'4" and weighs 220lbs and is a native of Rochester, NY.

"Jason should be able to give this team a shot in the arm," explained Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "He is big and fast and loaded with talent. Our fans are definitely going to enjoy watching Jason play."

The Team:

The Rays sit in fifth place in the Southern Division with a record of 8-9-1. The Stingrays finished the week with a record of 1-2 with two home losses. South Carolina is now 4-6 at home and 4-3-1 on the road. South Carolina is seven points out of fourth place. The team has scored at least one power play goal in each of its last seven games. The Rays have a record of 8-6-4 within the Southern Division. The team has the 23rd ranked power play in the league at 13.6%. At home the Stingrays average 10.4% on the power play which ranks 30th in the league. South Carolina averages 2.72 goals per game which ranks 19th in the league, defensively the Rays are 15th in the league averaging 2.89 goals against per game.

The Players:

Ed Courtenay has scored three goals in his last two games and has 11 points in his last ten contests. He now leads the Stingrays in scoring with six goals and nine assists for 15 points. Chris Allen has picked up eight points in his last nine games on four goals and four assists. Allen has a three game point streak. David Brumby is 2-1 with a 2.34 goals against average in his last three starts. He has 110 saves in his last three games as well.
