Shorthanded Royals Lose Third Straight

December 1, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release

The Reading Royals picked the wrong time to have a host of call ups and  injuries during this season.  In the midst of their season high five game  road trip the Royals have nine players called up to the American Hockey  League or are out on the injured reserve.  Despite the lack of bodies, the Royals fought valiantly but fell to Augusta in their first ever meeting, 3-1.  Augusta jumped on top of Reading 2-0 with goals from Scott Corbett and Louis Goulet five minutes apart in the first stanza.  Reading would cut the Lynx lead in half as Nick Lent tallied his third goal of the season to make it 2-1.  In the second, Augusta notched their lone power play tally off of the stick of leading scorer Scott Kelman.  Martin Lapointe and Greg Jacina picked up the helpers.  The game would remain locked at 3-1 for the second half of the hockey contest.

Augusta outshot Reading 39-34.  Reading went 1 of 7 on the power play while Augusta was 1 of 6.  Cody Rudkowsky made 36 saves for Reading in the loss. Jason Saal stopped 33 saves to record his 7th win of the season for Augusta.
