Portland Winterhawks News Release

Prince Albert, Sask. - The Portland Winterhawks Hockey Club today announced the acquisition of the rights to San Jose Sharks first-round NHL Draft pick Ozzy Wiesblatt from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a conditional first-round WHL Prospects Draft pick in 2025 and two conditional second-round picks in 2026. Wiesblatt is currently playing for the San Jose Barracuda, AHL affiliate of the Sharks, after four seasons in Prince Albert.

Wiesblatt, 20, has recorded one goal and four assists in 17 games with the Barracuda this season as a teammate of Winterhawks alumni Nick Cicek and Derrick Pouliot. Originally selected by San Jose 31st overall in the 2020 NHL Draft, Wiesblatt totaled 58 goals and 121 assists for 179 points in 195 WHL games prior to this season. The Calgary, Alta. native helped Prince Albert win the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions in 2019, and served as Prince Albert's alternate captain from 2020-22.

The trade is conditional upon Wiesblatt being assigned and reporting to Portland by San Jose. This is Portland's final trade as the WHL Trade Deadline has now passed.
