BRANDON M.B. - The Wheat Kings made a series of moves on Trade Deadline Day.
Monday Morning
It started on Monday morning when the Wheat Kings dealt defender Mason Ward to the Swift Current Broncos, in exchange for blue liner Kayden Sadhra-Kang. Ward, 20, was acquired in May 2021 as a part of a deal that involved goaltender Conor Ungar going to the Red Deer Rebels back in May 2021. The Lloyminster, AB native played 24 games in the black and gold, picking up 10 goals and 14 assists in 66 games played. Sadhra-Kang, 19, was originally drafted by the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the 9th round of the 2018 WHL Prospects draft and later dealt to the Swift Current Broncos in October 2021. The Richmond, BC native currently has 1 goal and 9 assists this season. Sadhra-Kang brings some size to the Wheat Kings lineup at 6'4, 202 lbs.

The Wheat King acquired forward Dawson Pasternak ('03) and a Conditional 4th Round Pick from the Portland Winterhawks in exchange for US Import forward Colin Frank ('06), a 2025 6th Round Pick, and a 2026 2nd Round Pick in the WHL Prospects Draft. Pasternak who hails from Winnipeg, was drafted 85th overall in the 2018 WHL Prospects draft by the Winterhawks. In two seasons, Pasternak has recorded 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points in 62 games with Portland. Frank, 16, was drafted in the US Prospects draft back in 2021. The Ladera Ranch, California product is currently with the Anaheim Jr Ducks U16 squad in Southern California.

The Wheat Kings acquired forward Nolan Flamand ('04) from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for forward Trae Johnson ('05), a 2023 3rd Round Pick and a 2024 Fifth Round Pick in the WHL Prospects Draft. Johnson, 17 was drafted 35th overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects draft by the Wheat Kings. In two seasons with Brandon, Johnson has 5 goals and 8 assists for 13 points in 100 games regular season games played. Flamand, 18, was drafted 27th overall in the 2019 WHL Prospects draft by the Rockets. The Saskatoon, SK product is coming off a productive 2021-22 season where he recorded 10 goals and 30 assists for 40 points in 60 games played with the Rockets. He currently has 16 points in 35 games played this season.

The Wheat Kings dealt forward Jake Chiasson ('03) to the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a 2023 1st Round Pick, a 2025 2nd Round Pick, and a Conditional 2026 2nd Round Pick in the WHL Prospects Draft.
Chiasson, 19, was drafted 15th overall in the 2018 WHL Prospects draft by the Wheat Kings. The Abbotsford native, joins Nolan Ritchie as the only current Wheat King to play four seasons with the team, including winning a division championship during "The Hub" season played strictly in Regina. Chiasson was also a 4th Round Draft pick of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. In 141 games played with Brandon, Chiasson recorded 30 goals and 51 assists for 81 career regular season points.
