Scoring Goals in a Hurry

Friday night, the Grizzlies and Salmon Kings combined to score 13 goals in Victoria's 8-5 win over Utah. That currently ties an ECHL season high for combined goals scored in a game. Eight goals by Victoria is also a season high for goals in a game by an individual team this year in the ECHL.

Scoring Goals in a Hurry (Part 2)

The Utah Grizzlies set a team record Saturday scoring two goals within seven seconds of each other. Tied at three in the third, Barett Ehgoetz picked up a goal at 10:19. Then at 10:26, Matt Craig picked up a Victoria turnover scoring unassisted to give Utah a 5-3 lead. The previous record for fastest consecutive goals by the Grizzlies was 9 seconds; set by John Purves and Paul Kruse February 23, 2000 @ Kansas City.

Just Plain Scoring Goals

Averaging 4.33 goals a game, Utah is currently 4th in the ECHL in goals scored per game.

High-Scoring Rookie

Matt Craig (7g, 3a) leads the ECHL in goals scored. He is currently tied for second in the ECHL in overall scoring.

A Team Effort

The Grizzlies currently have five players, Matt Craig (10), Jeff Miles (8), Anthony Battaglia (7) , Louis Dumont (7) and James Laux (6) with at least six points thru six games.

Out of the Gate

At the 14:57 mark of the first period Friday, the Grizzlies had been outscored 11-2 this year in the first period. After a little repair work, that deficit is now 11-6 in the first 20 minutes of a hockey game.

Streaking.....

Defenseman James Laux currently has a four-game point streak setting a Utah season high. He has one goal and five assists during that span. Barett Ehgoetz, Matt Craig, Anthony Battaglia and Garett Cameron all scored in both home games this weekend, and currently have two- game point streaks.

Welcome Aboard

Friday, the Grizzlies signed defenseman Jason Reimers, who played last season in Motor City of the UHL scoring 17 points (2g, 15 a) in 55 games.

Taking Advantage of the One-Man Advantage

The Grizzlies currently lead the league in power-play percentage, converting at a rate of 33 %. Coincidentally enough, the Grizzlies rank last in the league on the penalty kill. Jeff Miles leads the league with six power-play points, including three power-play goals.
