Lynx This Week

11/4 @ Florida 7:30 pm

11/5 @ Florida 7:30 pm

Augusta heads to Florida for a weekend series with the Everblades in which Lynx head coach Bob Ferguson returns to the team he helped start on a successful three-year record-setting run. Now in his first season with Augusta, Ferguson piloted the Everblades to new ECHL records in wins (53), points (108), winning percentage (.771), and road wins (25) while winning ECHL Coach of the Year twice in a row.

The Lynx will tackle the Everblades at the end of five straight games away from home, a string on which they are currently 1-1-1 after a loss in South Carolina, an overtime loss in Gwinnett, and a come-from-behind win in Pensacola Saturday. Over that stretch, the Lynx have had three different starting goaltenders thanks to the recall of Seamus Kotyk to Houston of the AHL and Jason Wolfe's move to the 7-Day IR.

Florida, meanwhile, is off to a 1-1-0 start after waiting a week to begin their season due to Hurricane Wilma, splitting a weekend series with the Las Vegas Wranglers. Steve Saviano and Paul Cabana each have two goals and an assist this year for the club, the only two players to find the net thus far. Craig Kowalski is back for a second season with the Everblades, while Phil Osaer shuffles over from Texas.

Week In Review

10/25 @ South Carolina - 4-2 loss

Ty Morris scored the game-winning goal on the power play at 6:29 of the third period to pace the Stingrays past the Lynx Tuesday.

Colt King tallied to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead in the first period, but John Hecmovic scored on a penalty shot to open the second period scoring, followed by a five-on-three goal by David Spina.

Brian Passmore tied the game in the third before Morris' goal, while Robyn Gomez scored into an empty net for the 4-2 final.

10/28 @ Gwinnett - 4-3 OTL

Former Lynx Scott Kelman scored twice and set up the game-winning goal in overtime to pace the Gwinnett Gladiators past Augusta 4-3 on Friday night.

Kelman kicked off the game by scoring Gwinnett's first two goals, sandwiched around Lynx markers from Sam Ftorek and Eric Lundberg. Nicolas Corbeil gave Augusta the lead in the third period, but veteran Cam Brown evened the contest to send it to overtime. It was there Kelman fed the puck in front of Lynx goaltender Cam Ellsworth for Chris Durno's game winner with just six seconds remaining in the extra session. Ellsworth earned the tie with 36 saves in his professional debut.

10/29 @ Pensacola - 3-2 win

Augusta dug itself out of a 2-0 first period hole thanks to goals by Brian Passmore, Sam Ftorek, and Joe Pereira's game winner at 13:59 of the third period. Rookie Lynx goaltender Trevor Cunning, released earlier in the week by the Ice Pilots, stopped 40 shots for the win in his first professional start.
