Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Against the Lynx: Gladiators forward Chris Durno continues to be a Lynx killer. The forward posted a goal and an assist including the game winner in the Gladiators 4-3 overtime win on Friday. Including this season, in 15 games against the Lynx, Durno has now posted 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points and is a +10 in those games. Friday's game winning goal was Durno's second against the Lynx in his career.
First of the Year:
Forward Scott Kelman posted his first points of the year in Friday's 4-3 overtime win against the Lynx. Kelman recorded a power play goal and a shorthanded goal for the Gladiators and finished the night with 3 points adding an assist on Chris Durno's overtime game winning goal. Kelman finished last season with 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points in 65 games between the Laredo Bucks of the CHL and the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL.
Adding another:
Rookie Scott Mifsud leads Gladiators rookies in scoring as he posted his third assist of the season in Friday's 4-3 overtime win against the Augusta Lynx. Mifsud posted 2 assists in the Gladiators 6-0 win in Pensacola on October 22nd. The rookie out of the University of Vermont is still looking for his first goal of the season while his 3 points also shares first on the Gladiators.
Into First:
Netminder Tuomas Tarkki has moved into sole possession of first place among ECHL netminders by not appearing in a game this week. Tarkki recorded a shutout despite losing 1-0 in a shootout loss against the Charlotte Checkers on October 21st. Tarkki currently has a 0.00 goals against average and a 1.000 save percentage in his only start this season.
A Change:
The Gladiators currently lead the ECHL in penalty minutes averaging 38 minutes a game through the first three games of the season. Gwinnett finished last season ranked last in penalty minutes averaging 15.8 minute a game. Gwinnett ranked 28th out of 31 teams during the Gladiators inaugural 2003-04 season posting an average of 18.1 minutes a game.
Team Photo Night:
Saturday, November 12th is team photo night when the Gladiators host the Florida Everblades at the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:35 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will get a Gladiators team photo courtesy of Monarchcomputer.com, Star 94 FM, Charter Communications and The AJC Gwinnett News.

Chris Durno scored the overtime game winning goal with 6 seconds left in the extra session for his second goal of the season. Scott Kelman posted his first points of the season netting a power play goal and a shorthanded goal while adding an assist on Durno's game winner. Cam Brown posted his first goal of the game midway through the first period to tie the game at 3-3 and send the game to overtime. Sean Fields made 19 saves in the win while the Gladiators and Lynx combined for 112 total penalty minutes.

Jeff Campbell led the Gladiators in scoring last year against the Stingrays posting 8 goals and 5 assists for 13 points in the series and recorded a hat trick in North Charleston. Gwinnett finished 5-2-0 last season against the Stingrays and are 7-5-1 all time against South Carolina.
Saturday, November 5th, @ Greenville Grrrowl, 7:05 p.m. - wdun.com
The Gladiators are 7-4-1 all time in Gwinnett against the Grrrowl while going 3-1-1 last season against Greenville. Saturday's matchup is the first of nine meetings with the Grrrowl and the first of five at the Bi-Lo Center in Greenville
