Johnstown Chiefs News Release


WEEKLY SUMMARY:

The Johnstown Chiefs (0-3-2) went 0-1-2 last week with an overtime loss to Toledo on Wednesday, a shootout loss to Trenton on Friday, and a loss in Toledo on Saturday. The Chiefs are on the road, Friday, in Trenton and will play one home game this week, against Wheeling (Saturday). The Chiefs are in 6th place in the North division.

Game #3 (10/26/05)

Toledo 5 ¡V JOHNSTOWN 4 OTL Currie 27 Saves Wednesday night, the Johnstown Chiefs could not hold a 3 goal third period lead, falling to Toledo, 5-4 in overtime. Newly assigned Brady Greco got the Chiefs started, scoring at 2:45 of the 1st period. Goals by Jean Desrochers and Paul Caponigri gave the Chiefs a 3-0 lead. J.B. Bittner also scored his first professional goal. Scooter Smith scored the first and last Toledo goals. Ken Magowan notched a natural hat trick for the Storm.

Game #4 (10/28/05) Trenton 3 ¡V JOHNSTOWN 2 SHL Boutin 37 saves

The sparkling play of Chiefs goalie, Jonathan Boutin highlighted the Chiefs shootout loss. Boutin kicked aside 37 shots. Brady Greco scored his 2nd of the year, and Brett Peterson netted his first, putting Johnstown in front, 2-0. Scott May and Mathieu Brunelle evened the score for Trenton in the 2nd period. Neither team was able to score in the third. Trenton won the shootout, 2-0.

Game #5 (10/29/05)

TOLEDO 6 ¡V Johnstown 2 Boutin 35 saves

Several controversial decisions marked the Chiefs worst loss of the season. Johnstown staked the Storm a 3-0 lead, as Scooter Smith, P.J. Martin, and Todd Jackson scored for Toledo. Johnstown climbed to within one, on goals by Zbynek Hrdel and John Toffey. Jeff Attard added two more for Toledo, including a disputed 5th goal. Johnstown had earlier disputed a non-goal call that would have made the game 4-3. B.J. Adams ended the scoring for the Storm. Johnstown set a seaon high, with 33 PIM¡¦s.

Radio: WNTJ 850-AM, WNTW 990-AM, www.johnstownchiefs.com and www.b2now.com The Chiefs played arguably their best game of the young season in the 3-2 shootout loss to Trenton on October 28. The meeting is the 2nd of 13 between the two teams. Trenton is 2-0-1 on the year and in the middle of the Northern division. Still winless, Johnstown is in 6th place in the Northern division.

Saturday, November 5, vs. Wheeling Nailers 7:30 p.m. Radio: WNTJ 850-AM, WNTW 990-AM, www.johnstownchiefs.com and www.b2now.com This is the first of 12 regular season meetings between the two teams. The Nailers and Chiefs met twice during the preseason, each ending in a 3-2 shootout win for the Chiefs. The Chiefs have played more games against the Nailers than any remaining team in the ECHL, and lead the all time series 49-45-12.
