NORFOLK, VA - Bulls first baseman Austin Shenton homered, while Tides designated hitter Lewin Diaz homered and starter Cade Povich threw over five scoreless innings in Norfolk's 6-1 victory over Durham on Tuesday evening at Harbor Park.
Diaz started Norfolk off with a long shot in the third frame, followed by SS Joey Ortiz' RBI double. The Bulls went scoreless until the sixth when Shenton homered on a fly ball to right field. Norfolk 2B Connor Norby and RF Kyle Stowers combined for four more runs to secure the Tides 6-1 win.
Norfolk starter Cade Povich (6.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 7 SO) earned the win, while Durham starter Taj Bradley (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO) suffered the loss.
The two teams are set to continue their series on Wednesday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35pm. RHP Justin Armbrester is anticipated to get the nod for the Tides, and the starting pitcher for the Bulls is TBD.
