Redbirds Snag Series Opener with Pair of Late Rallies

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds began a six-game road trip with a 9-5 win at the Charlotte Knights at Truist Park on Tuesday night.

The Memphis offense erupted for eight runs across the sixth and seventh innings in the win. The Redbirds tied the game in the sixth inning on consecutive run-scoring doubles from first baseman Juan Yepez and designated hitter Nick Dunn. Two batters later, left fielder Moises Gomez clubbed his 25th home run to give Memphis the lead. In the seventh, Redbirds batters used patience to extend the lead with three walks and an error.

Right-handed pitcher Gordon Graceffo tossed 4.2 innings on Tuesday night. The right-handed pitcher allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits, walked four batters and struck out four. Kyle Leahy (4-4) earned the win with 2.1 innings in relief. Leahy allowed one run on one hit, walked one and struck out two batters.

The Redbirds (60-61) return to AutoZone Park on Tuesday, August 29 to begin a six-game homestand at 6:45p.m. CDT against the Gwinnett Stripers.
