Three Loons Named to All-Star Team

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Midwest League announced today the rosters for the 2013 Midwest League All-Star Game, which will be held June 18 at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio. The Loons will be represented by three players - two pitchers and one position players - on the Eastern Division squad.

The Loons position player that is headed to Dayton is catcher Tyler Ogle, who has also played first base and outfield this season, as well as appearing as a pitcher in relief on April 30 at Quad Cities. Ogle will be joined in Dayton by starting pitchers Jharel Cotton and Carlos Frias.

Frias is 4-2 this season, with a 1.86 ERA and a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 41-17 in 58 innings pitched. He is second in the Midwest League in ERA. Frias has a WHIP of 1.22 and has held opponents to a batting average of .252.

Cotton has a 2-3 record, with a 3.55 ERA, but is second in the league in batting average against, holding opponents to an average of .200. He is also fifth in the Midwest League in WHIP, with a 1.01 WHIP, and has a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 58-17 in 58 1/3 innings.

Ogle is hitting for a batting average of .264 this season, with five doubles, seven home runs and 28 runs batted in. He is sixth in the Midwest League in on-base percentage, getting on base at a .399 clip, and is tied for the league lead in walks, with 36. Ogle has a slugging percentage of .410 and an OPS of .809.

The Bowling Green Hot Rods, an Eastern Division team, have the most representatives of any team in the league, with nine. Cedar Rapids has the most all-stars of any Western Division team, with eight.

The East is led by Dayton manager Jose Nieves and his Dragons coaching staff. The West is led by Wisconsin manager Matt Erickson and his Timber Rattlers staff.
