
Hawks Hammer Three Homers and Win 6-2

Lake County Captains News Release
(Dayton, OH) - South Bend (39-17) smashed three homeruns and defeated Lake County (20-35) by a final of 6-2. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Brandon Drury hit a two run homerun to left field and gave South Bend the 2-1 lead. It became 5-1 in the sixth when Breland Almadova led off with a solo homerun and was followed up with a two runs hot by Roidany Aguila. The Silver Hawks were in command from that point forward.
Lake County scored in the third inning. Aaron Siliga reached on a fielder's choice and was singled to third base by Yhoxian Medina. Erik Gonzalez grounded out and Siliga scored. It was 1-0 Captains. With the score 5-1 headed to the seventh, South Bend made the score 6-1 when Mike Lang reached on an error and then stole second base. Socrates Brito then singled home Lang to increase the lead.
Lake County inched closer in the eighth inning when Gonzalez doubled and came home to score on a double by Logan Vick. The score was 6-2. That was the final. Lake County allowed three homeruns on Wednesday night, their total now sits at 42 HRA for the season.
The Captains sent LHP Ryan Merritt (3-5) to the mound to start the ballgame. Merritt took the loss. Ryan pitched six and two thirds innings and allowed eight hits, six runs, five of the runs were earned. Merritt walked one and struck out four. Felix Sterling finished off the game for Lake County and allowed three hits in one and one third innings.
South Bend gave the ball to LHP Daniel Watts (8-2). Watts earned the win. Watts pitched seven and two thirds innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits. Watts walked one and struck out two. JR Bradley pitched the final inning and one third for the Silver Hawks and did not allow a run.
Thursday the four game series will continue with a double header. In game one, Lake County will send RHP Jake Sisco (2-4, 3.27) to the mound and South Bend will counter with RHP Brandon Sinnery (2-2, 3.11). In game two, the Captains will hand the ball to Josh Martin (2-3, 4.38). Martin will be making his first start of the season. The Silver Hawks will counter with Blake Perry (2-2, 4.42). First pitch of game one will be at 10:35 AM, with game two starting 30 minutes after game one concludes.
