Bowling Green, Ky.-Junior Arias collected a home run and double and scored two runs and Beau Amaral added a double and triple to lead the Dayton Dragons to a 5-3 victory over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Wednesday night. The Dragons have won nine of their last 10 road games and improved to 25-33 on the season. Bowling Green, losers of seven straight, fell to 30-28.

Dragons reliever Sean Lucas pitched out of tough jams in the both the eighth and ninth innings to preserve the win. Lucas entered the game with the bases loaded and no one out in the eighth and got out of the inning without a run crossing the plate. In the bottom of the ninth, Lucas worked out of a two-out, second-and-third situation, getting Bowling Green's Justin O'Conner to ground out to shortstop to end the game.

The Dragons built an early 4-0 lead. Arias connected on his fifth home run of the season and his first since May 1st with a solo blast in the second to start the scoring. The Dragons added an unearned run in the third and then scored two in the fourth, keyed by a run-scoring double by Brandon Dailey and an RBI triple by Amaral. Bowling Green battled back but could never get closer than two runs at 4-2 and 5-3.

Dragons starting pitcher Ismael Guillon (2-6) earned the win. He allowed only one hit in five innings, surrendering two runs. He walked five and struckout three. Reliever Joel Bender entered the game to start the sixth and allowed one run in one and two-thirds innings, giving up two hits with no walks and three strikeouts. Ben Klimesh replaced Bender with one out in the seventh and closed out the inning, then faced the first three batters in the eighth as Bowling Green loaded the bases on two walks and an error. Lucas recorded the final six outs, allowing one hit and one walk for his eighth save. Over Lucas' last eight games, he fired 11 scoreless innings, earning a win and five saves while giving up only four hits.
