Stripers Shut out Tides for Second Straight Night

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers (10-13) jumped out to an early lead and shut out the Norfolk Tides (12-11) for the second game in a row, this time by a 5-0 score on Saturday night at Coolray Field.

Decisive Plays: Preston Tucker hit a sacrifice fly scoring Phil Gosselin in the first inning to give the Stripers a 1-0 lead. In the third, Gwinnett put up three more, two via a Ryan Casteel triple to right-center. In the fifth, Hernan Perez blasted his first home run (1) in a Gwinnett uniform, a 398-foot solo shot to left-center for a 5-0 lead.

Key Contributors: Starter Nolan Kingham and relievers Thomas Burrows (W, 2-0), Brandyn Sittinger, Dylan Lee, and Michael Tonkin combined to allow just six hits. Perez went 2-for-3 with a homer and one RBI, while Greyson Jenista went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.

Noteworthy: The Stripers' pitching staff has posted an 18.1-inning scoreless streak dating back to the eighth on Thursday night. Gwinnett's back-to-back shutouts are the team's first since June 10-11, 2017 vs. Charlotte (won 9-0 and 5-0).
