Stingrays Host Columbia Tonight

South Carolina Stingrays News Release
The Stingrays extended their win streak to a record 11 games, rallying from a two-goal deficit to best the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-2 in a 13-round shootout Sunday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Matt Scherer and Cail MacLean pocketed 3rd period markers before Travis Morin and Chris Chaput lit the lamp in the shootout. Rookie goaltender Josh Johnson stopped 23 shots in regulation and overtime for South Carolina, then stonewalled 12 of 13 Gwinnett attempts in the shootout. The Inferno, on the other hand, was on the losing end of a 3-2 shootout decision to the Augusta Lynx Saturday evening in Augusta.

During his five-game win streak, Johnson has not allowed more than two goals in any start ... Morin has registered 9 points (6g, 3a) against the Inferno this season, while Miles has collected 8 points (6g, 2a) versus the Stingrays in 2007-08 ... The Stingrays and Inferno have combined for 30 goals in their three previous meetings this season ... Columbia has outshot South Carolina in all three contests this season, but the Stingrays have scored the first goal in each game ... Former Stingrays D Donny Grover has four assists in 14 games since joining the Inferno from Reading Nov. 29 ... South Carolina is one of two ECHL teams that has not suffered a shootout loss in 2007-08 ... The Stingrays have scored 106 goals this season, tied for third in the league ...
