Biloxi, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves lost 5-2 at Pensacola on December 26, 5-4 in a shootout against Florida on December 28, and 10-5 against Texas on December 29.

The Pensacola Ice Pilots defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 5-2 a the Pensacola Civic Center on Wednesday evening as the Sea Wolves closed out a 10-game road trip.

Pensacola got out to an early lead when Konstantin Kalmikov deflected Jean-Claude Sawyer's shot from the point past Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey on the power play at 5:04. Just over three minutes later, Brian MacGregor capitalized on a giveaway and raced down the left wing and beat Cey high to the blocker side to give Pensacola a 2-0 lead at 8:07. Mark Hurtubise cut the Ice Pilots lead to one with his sixth of the season coming on a slap shot that beat Pensacola goaltender Cam Ellsworth over the blocker at 10:59.

Kalmikov would regain the two-goal lead for the Ice Pilots with his fourth goal of the season at 6:25 of the second period.

Mike Sgroi notched his 10th goal of the season on the Ice Pilots' first of two penalty shots in the third period at 3:44, when he cut out wide to the right, drew Cey to the ice and fired into the partially-vacated net. Mississippi would cut the Pensacola lead to two when Michael Couch scored his first goal of the season on a one-timer from Gio Flamminio on the power play at 6:28. Bryan Esner would seal the scoring with a penalty shot goal for Pensacola at 12:20.

Morgan Cey made 34 saves on 39 shots to earn the loss, and Mississippi was 1-for-3 on the power play.

Friday, December 28 vs. Florida, 4-5 SOL

Jason Tejchma scored a pair of third period goals to draw the Mississippi Sea Wolves even with the Florida Everblades at four-apiece in the third period, but Florida was able to salvage the 5-4 win in the shootout at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Friday night.

Florida took a 2-0 lead into the locker room after one period of play as Brad Herauf scored his first of the game on the power play at 3:57 and Dan Collins scored his first of the season on the man advantage at 19:05.

The Everblades added to their lead just 25 seconds into the third period when Preston Callander drove in and fired the puck past Mississippi goaltender Morgan Cey to make it 3-0 in favor of Florida. The Sea Wolves answered back just 12 seconds later, when Kyle McAllister potted his fifth goal of the season on the rebound of a shot from Jason Tejchma at the 37 second mark.

The Sea Wolves cut the Florida lead to one early in the third period when Stan Lascek cashed in the rebound of Torry Gajda's shot at 3:06. Florida was the only team to score while Mississippi has a power play, doing so shorthanded when Brad Herauf netted his second of the night as he came down on a two-on-one break with J.B. Bittner at 10:28.

Just under five minutes later, Jason Tejchma would net his first goal of the night, taking a centering feed from Ryan Menei and shoveling it past Everblades goaltender Justin Peters at 15:22 of the third. Tejchma would add his second of the night when Matt Deschamps hit him with a lead pass at the Florida blue line, he split the defensemen and put the puck past Peters at 18:07.

The game remained scoreless through overtime, and Florida got goals in the shootout from Dan Collins, Preston Callander, and Brad Herauf to notch the win.

Saturday, December 29 vs. Texas, 5-10 L

Lance Monych potted three goals for Mississippi, but it wasn't enough as the Texas Wildcatters defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves by a score of 10-5 in a wild game at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Saturday night.

Mississippi got on the board first when Monych broke down the right wing and scored his 12th goal of the season over the glove of Texas goaltender Anton Khudobin at 6:54 of the first. Texas took a 2-1 lead into the locker room as John Adams snuck in from the point to fire a shot past Sea Wolves goaltender Morgan Cey at 17:04 and Brandon Benedict pounded a goalmouth pass from Scott Champagne past Cey at 19:13.

Texas would rattle off four goals in the second period to increase their lead to 6-1, with Max Taylor scoring his first of the night at 2:47, Kevin Baker scoring his first of the evening at 5:31, Moises Gutierrez notching his first of the soiree at 7:56, and Baker finding the net for the second time at 16:05.

The Sea Wolves got out to a quick start in the third period when Lance Monych cashed in on a kooky bounce off of the boards just 12 seconds into the period with Mississippi on the power play. Monych would complete his hat trick with a blast from the top of the left circle on the power play at 2:58. Texas would regain a four goal lead when Gutierrez scored his second of the night at 4:04. Jason Tejchma banged his 10th of the season past Khudobin at 6:29. Max Taylor scored his second of the evening on the power play at 8:47, before his college teammate Chase Trull banged home his third of the season at 9:02. Taylor would score again for his third of the evening at 9:48, and Gutierrez would finish the scoring for Texas at 12:56 as the Wildcatters would hang on for the 10-5 win.

Mississippi was 3-for-10 on the power play and Morgan Cey made 28 of 38 saves to take the loss.
