Checkers Receive Goaltender Holt

Charlotte, N.C. - The New York Rangers of the National Hockey League have reassigned goaltender, Chris Holt to the Charlotte Checkers.

Holt, 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, was drafted by the Rangers in the sixth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He began this season with the Checkers playing in the team's home opener back on Oct. 19 in a 5-4 victory over the Columbia Inferno. Shortly after, he was called up the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League where he played in eight games compiling a record of 5-3 with a 2.48 goals against average with a .903 save percentage.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on Jan. 10 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
