Pepperall Picks up another Point, but Devils Fall to Cinci 3-1
December 31, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release
TRENTON, NJ - Colin Pepperall continued his recent tear, notching his 11th point in seven straight games, but the Devils could not solve Dov Grumet-Morris and the Cincinnati Cyclones, losing 3-1. Ryan Gunderson would also continue his point streak.
Gunderson scored the Devils' lone goal late in the third period on assists by Colin Pepperall and Joe Rooney. All three skaters continued their point streak with Pepperall stretching his streak to seven games. The goal brought the Devils within two goals with 5:33 left in the third frame.
Neither team started quickly out of the gates; just 16 shots were taken by both sides. The Devils saw a couple strong chances stopped by netminder Dov Grumet-Morris, including breakaways by Colin Pepperall and Trevor Kell.
It would be the Cyclones' Jean-Michel Daoust who scored on the transition, beating Dave Caruso just barely to the far pipe with a shot from the near dot.
Daoust continued his possessed scoring by assisting on a beautiful goal that was scored by Matt Syroczynksi on a wrap-around pass that was left for him to put away. The goal was also assisted by David Desharnais giving the Cylcones a 2-0 lead. Cory Urquhart would notch the final tally for Cincinnati.
Dave Caruso took the tough-luck loss, saving 32 of 35 shots but being foiled by two power play goals.
The Trenton Devils fly south for the winter to take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots at the Pensacola Civic Center January 2nd at 7:05pm. Tune into WBCB 1490 or go online to www.trentondevils.com and listen or watch live courtesy of B2 Networks.
