Cyclones Run Winning Streak To Eight

December 31, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

TRENTON, New Jersey - The Cincinnati Cyclones ran their club-record winning streak to eight games with a 3-1 win at Trenton on Monday afternoon. Jean-Michel Daoust netted a goal and added to assists to pace the offense.

The Cyclones scored the first goal of the game at 18:14, as Jean-Michel Daoust netted his league-leading 25th goal of the season. Daoust stole a pass at the blueline and drifted into the right faceoff circle and fired the pass along the ice inside the far post to beat goaltender Dave Caruso. It was the 23rd time in 32 games that Cincinnati opened the scoring in a game.

Cincinnati extended the lead to 2-0, when Matt Syroczynski rifled home his tenth goal of the campaign at 4:27 on the power play. David Desharnais flipped a puck from behind the net to the top of the crease where Syroczynski snapped off the shot. Daoust added the second assist on the goal.

In the third period, Cory Urquhart teed up his fifth goal of the season from the top of the right circle. Daoust and Desharnais added the assists. Ryan Gunderson broke up the shutout bid with a power play goal 12:57 into the frame.

The Cyclones are 24-6-2 on the season, while Trenton is 12-16-2.

Cincinnati is now 19-3-2 in its last 24 games. The Cyclones closed the month of December with a 12-1-1 mark. It also leaves the team with 50 points on the season-the first time the club has ever had 50 at January 1st.

The Cyclones are now 18 games above .500 for the first time in team history. The club was 16 games over .500 on March 19, 1995-when the team was located in Louisville-and had a 38-22-7 mark. The 23 wins are the most the team has ever had prior to the All-Star break and the seven game win streak ties the team record (Dec. 22, 1995 through Jan. 5, 1996).

The Cyclones are next in action at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, January 4 when Reading comes to town for the start of NASCAR Weekend. Matt Kenseth will be the special guest on Saturday, January 5. Both games start at 7:30pm.

Tickets for all Cyclones games can be purchased at the U.S. Bank Arena box office, all Ticketmaster outlets including select Kroger stores, charge by phone at 513-562-4949 or online at ticketmaster.com.
