Jackals Thank Fans For Delivering Holiday Cheer
December 31, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, wish to thank all of their fans who so cheerfully donated toys upon entering First Arena prior to the Christmas holiday and for those that took part in the annual Teddy Bear Toss December 15th as the Jackals battled Trenton.
Hundreds of toys, stuffed and otherwise, donated by fans were distributed throughout the Twin Tiers area by members of the Jackals in making the holidays brighter for youngsters in the area.
The Jackals offered their services in making personal deliveries to several area organizations including Glove House, Founders Pavilion and St. Joseph's Hospital. Other organizations that benefited from the generosity of the Jackals fans were the Children's Holiday Wish Party at the Elmira Holiday Inn, The Salvation Army Safe House, The Southside Community Center, the Ernie Davis Community Center, the Chemung County Department of Social Services and the Woodlawn Youth Center.
"These toys reached many area youngsters in need," said Jodi Crane, Executive Director of the Woodlawn Youth Center. "Some may not truly realize the great impact that it had on these youth during the holiday season. We're grateful to the efforts of the fans in combination with that of the Elmira Jackals."
